Internews primary focus in Africa is to strengthen community access to balanced reporting so that citizens can make informed decisions about their futures. In Kenya and Nigeria, the Local Voices program works with radio journalists, talk show hosts, and DJs to provide timely and accurate information on HIV/AIDS to their audiences. The Justice After Genocide program brings up-to-date video newsreels on the justice process to audiences throughout Rwanda, and engages local audiences in discussions about their questions and concerns for a united future. Meanwhile, Internews’ Global Internet Policy Initiative is working from Botswana on a telecommunications policy and regulatory support project for all of southern Africa. With media law projects in Rwanda and civic journalism reporting in Madagascar, Internews continues to expand programming in Africa. Internews is active in many countries all around the world: emerging democracies, countries facing conflits, war and difficult situations. The Internews website contains a lot of materials about these countries, including many reports which can be downloaded and many links.
