Star Radio was selected by a panel of eminent individuals headed by Madam Meg Riggs, head of the Public Diplomacy Section at the United States Embassy in Monrovia. The PUL [Press Union of Liberia], as a means of encouraging professionalism in the media industry, awarded the station with a modern double-deck tape recorder player and a pack of CDs. Two journalists of Star Radio were also awarded for their outstanding performances during the year. The panel named Vivian Gartayn, Best Newscaster and Bruce Boweh, Judicial Reporter of the year.
