| A look at the developments in Eastern Africa since the establishment of independent, private broadcasters in the 1990s. Research from five Eastern African countries –Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Tanzania and Uganda – highlight trends in emerging radio and TV ownership, broadcast content and audiences, the state of public broadcasters, and the emerging community broadcasting initiatives. An assessment of the regulatory environment in each country is made, and areas of potential concern addressed. | |
