| (Français ci-dessous) ObsMedia is an initiative of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC). The main purpose of this site is to help monitor alerts on freedom of expression affecting media worldwide, and to inform on regulations advances and setbacks in the recognition of community media. By providing updated information on the status of community radio and fostering information sharing, ObsMedia supports the development of community broadcasting as well as the action towards their recognition. The ObsMedia website includes several country reports describing the media landscape with a special focus on broadcasting and community radios. Actually "regional radio broadcasting assessments" are available about the following countries from Africa : Benin (FR), Burkina Faso (FR), Burundi (FR), Ghana, Guinea (FR), Malawi, Mali (FR), Mozambique, Namibia, Niger (FR), Sénégal, Sudan, Tchad (FR), Uganda and Zimbabwe. These reports are built on a similar structure: Country context, Communication landscape, Broadcasting sector, ICT, Media Law and Regulation, training institutions and networks, Stakeholders involvement in media issues and challenges. Some are very extensive (e.g. Burkina Faso: 43 pages; Ghana: 29 pages; Malawi: 32 pages; Mozambique: 32 pages; Guinea: 34 pages; Uganda: 25 pages) when other are rather short (e.g. Benin : 7 pages; Ethiopia: 7 pages; Mali: 6 pages; Nigeria: 6 pages). On the website go to the submenu "Reports and Publications". ___________________FRANCAIS ObsMedia est une initiative de l’AMARC en vue de promouvoir et défendre la liberté d’expression des médias à travers le monde, et en particulier des médias communautaires. Ce site proposé en anglais et en espagnol contient des documents et publications intéressants, y compris en français. Ainsi y trouve-t-on des rapports sur la situation des radios communautaires d’une dizaine de pays africains. Sept rapports sont disponibles en français et concernent le Benin (7 pages), Burkina Faso (43 pages), le Burundi (16 pages), la Guinée (34 pages), le Mali (6 pages), le Niger (15 pages) et le Tchad (9 pages). Ces rapports sont construits sur un structure similaire : Contexte national, paysage médiatique, la situation radiophonique avec un accent particulier sur la radio communautaire, les acteurs, conclusions et recommandations.
